With the double album Sève, Zaïko Langa-Langa, a true legend of African music, celebrates fifty years of career. On September 25, the group released a double CD of fourteen tracks of “Rumba Congolaise”, the style that the group popularized around the world in the early 1970s.
Led by Jossart N’yoka Longo, the group in activity for fifty years (and with many changes of staff along the way), is the oldest orchestra in the history of Congolese music and a true cultural icon. .
Considered one of the founders of rumba, Zaïko Langa-Langa has imposed his dances around the world and in particular among young people in need of emancipation. More than a group, Zaïko Langa-Langa is a real orchestra that has stood the test of time to become an indisputable institution, a heritage.
In Kinshasa in 1974, on the occasion of the legendary Ali / Foreman boxing match, Zaïko was already there, on stage, alongside James Brown and Tina Turner for the big concert of this historic meeting. Sève, the group’s new album is an opportunity to dive into two CDs on a huge career. The mythical orchestra of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zaïko Langa-Langa, introduces us to the clip of Systeme Ya Benda, taken from the double album Sève.

English Lyrics : SYSTEME YA BENDA (System of leveling down) What is happening now in society What we see nowadays Makes us worried It is a system of leveling down That doesn’t want people to succeed Neither to move forward (2X) The only grievance against me The Almighty benediction on me That brings success on me That makes my business successful That makes my music for many joyful While it angers a few Isn’t this wickedness Yes, it is indeed Isn’t this meanness Yes, it is indeed What is happening now in society What we see nowadays Makes us worried Try to take a ride in the neighbourhood Someone will look down at you Get engaged in politics You end up killed by poison In the military It is even worse Among music artists It is the battle of egos Our society has changed Adou Eyanga said it in his song Our hearts have become wicked We are now killing each other An employee buys a car Their boss becomes angry A younger buys an estate Their elder shows malice A soldier buys shoes Their officer gets furious A musician becomes successful Their conductor becomes jealous A deacon buys a house Their pastor becomes mean The motorcycle taxi succeeds in business The car taxi gets unhappiness Isn’t this wickedness Yes, it is indeed Isn’t this meanness Yes, it is indeed What is happening now in society What we see nowadays Makes us worried Try to take a ride in the neighbourhood Someone will look down at you Get engaged in politics You end up killed by poison In the military It is even worse Among music artists It is the battle of egos Translation by : ProZal - Production Zaïko Langa-Langa.
