Rio-Mandingo, it is Brazil and West Africa united, the alliance of the voice and the Brazilian guitars on the kora and the balafon Guinean. Inspired by the popular music of these two cultures, the band is shaping up its songs, in Malinké and Portuguese, creating a World Kora Samba universe.
This mixture World Kora Samba, they named it Africa-Carioca.
An Africa where the Kora of the griot and its little brother the Balafon, merge with the Brazilian Guitar, and the Cavaquinho carioca; where the voices are heard sometimes in Malinké, in Portuguese or in French. All sustained by a rhythmic Brazilian percussion and African drums surfing on the bossa-samba wave, zairian rumba, bayon, soukous, samba of raizes, partido-alto … according to their desires.
To compose his music, Rio-Mandingo feeds on the traditional repertoire of the griots and on PBM “Popular Brazilian Music”.
Rio Mandingue highlights the similarities of these two countries, a magic of rhythms and melodies, in which merge: energy, sweetness and saudade.
