Pierre Tchana, born on February 2, 1945 and died on November 18, 1998 (at 53 years) is an author, composer, performer, musician Cameroonian specialist of mangambeu. He had his glory years in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s in Cameroon.
Born on February 2, 1945 in Bangoulap, he spent his childhood in Nkongsamba. As a student, Tchana sang in church.
In 1957, he won first prize with his flute in a public broadcast organized by Radio Douala.
In 1959, he moved to Yaoundé, where he continued his studies while making music. In 1961, Radio Yaoundé recorded him as part of a program to discover young talent.
From 1963 to 1965, he sang at the old Pezzena Bar in the Madagascar district. In 1965, he created the Travel Jazz orchestra. In 1968, he recorded the album “Il n’est jamais trop tard” for Philips. In 1970, he was contracted by SATEL and became their representative in Central Africa.
He died on November 24, 1998 in Douala.
