Ismaël Lô
Ismaël Lô is a Senegalese singer, songwriter and musician born on August 30, 1956 in Dogondoutchi, Niger. He is considered one of the greatest African artists of all time, and his musical style, which blends mbalax, soul, rhythm and blues and Mandingo music, has inspired many musicians around the world.
Lô was born in Niger, but spent his childhood in Senegal, in Rufisque, near Dakar. He began playing guitar and harmonica in his teens, and quickly gained popularity in the Senegalese music world. In 1978, he joined the group Super Diamono, with whom he recorded several successful albums.
