Damso, whose real name is William Kalubi Mwamba, born May 10, 1992 in Kinshasa (Zaire, now Democratic Republic of the Congo), is a Belgian-Congolese rapper and singer-songwriter.
Active in the rap world since 2006, Damso began publishing projects with his first mixtape Waiting Room, released in 2014. He saw his career really take off in 2015, when he was spotted by Booba. He then joined the collective and label 92i, and signed with Universal Music France. He is also known for his belonging to the new wave of Belgian rap in the 2010s with artists such as Hamza and Shay.
Damso released his debut Low Battery album in 2016, certified double platinum. His second album Ipséité, released in 2017, was a great success in France and Belgium. It is certified diamond disc in France and platinum disc in Belgium. His third album, Lithopédion, was released on June 15, 2018 and was certified triple platinum in France and gold in Belgium. He won the prize for best rap album at the Victoires de la musique 2019. On September 18, 2020, he released his album QALF, announced several times, without knowing any real information, apart from the name of this project. The album was gold in France 10 days after its release.
