Cotonou City Crew known as C.C.C is a label of Hip-Hop Benin.
In 2007, following the success of their first album the classic “Faux frères, Vrais Jumeaux” and their 2nd album “Born to shine only the mythical group of rap Black Diamond decides to gather around them the mc’s ‘They judge talented in Benin, to give a new dynamic to the local rap.
Inspired by such prestigious labels as Roc A Fella of Jay Z, Sector A or Eben, Diamant Noir quickly understands that the union is strength and so Bsyd, Nasty Nesta and DAC join the Cotonou City Crew team for Form one of the most plebiscite crews of African Hip-Hop.
The Independent label is launched on the hats with the launch in 2008 on the internet of the two comps W.A.R vol1 and Vol2 downloaded more than 80,000 copies on the internet. Nasty Nesta’s “It’s Necessary” albums (2008), Bsyd’s “RapStar” (2008), and DAC’s mixtape “Good Life (2010), which confirm the talent of the crew that does not stop Fill the concert halls and mark the crowds at each of their appearances.
Diamant Noir is also not in rest and chained with the album “Audiobiography” in 2010, preceded by a free mixtape “Digital Footprints” mixed by DJ Myst (The DJ in Youssoupha).
The label definitely combines its leadership in 2011 with the release of Bsyd’s second album “Entre 2 Mondes” and Nasty Nesta’s mixtape “Je suis le Rap Africain”.
Cotonou City Crew is more than just an independent label, it is a family of artists, a reflection of this new generation of Africans who undertakes and expects nothing from the elders. They also have the same vision of African Hip-Hop. A Hip-Hop decomplexed, sometimes conscious, sometimes ego trips, but always sincere. Their rap packed with rich rhymes, punchlines and other word games completely breaks with the preconceived notions about gender in Africa. C.C.C does not hide its strong American influence, but continues to claim strong African origins through its members originally from Benin, but also with Togolese, Nigerian, Senegalese and Cameroonian roots.
