Ibrahima Loucard or Carlou D was born on December 13, 1979 in Dakar of Senegalese nationality. He took his first steps at school in 1985 to leave it in 1995 in favor of music. He was a member of the rap group PBS Radikal before embarking on a solo career which brought him to the fore.
At the age of 12 he felt a facility for singing, and over time he had a mad love for music. From the age of sixteen (16), in addition to music, he developed a crazy passion for dance and this will allow him to win with the group “NAVAJO”, the prize for the best choreography at “Holiday Oscars” edition 2002.
From then on, he began a solo career. He meets experienced artists who advise him and allow him to have a perfect mastery of the acoustic guitar. Currently, Carlou D never separates from his guitar.
This experience paid off when he had the opportunity to participate in the album “Khalanam” by singer Daby in 2000.
During the same year, he met Ass Malick and Seydiman with whom he formed the group “SKA BLUE”. They compose together a song produced by the agency for the cleanliness of Dakar which will know a real success near the Senegalese public.
In 2003, the artist Carlou D joined the group Positive Black Soul (PBS) and became one of the leading artists of the African Hip Hop movement. Now the group is made up of Carlou D, Baay Souley and Didier Awadi.
Its enormous potential will open the doors of recognition to them. This is how he released his first solo album in 2004 “Séédé” or witness of his time.
Carlou D is gifted with the guitar and has a suave and exceptional voice. Today, in his generation, he is the master chef of musical melodies capable of making the most insensitive sensitive.
In 2006, he released a second opus entitled “Weeru Waay”. the latter allows the Senegalese public to grasp the style of the artist who, beyond Hip Hop, develops ease of expression in other much more classic musical styles.
This is how he got approached by the organizers of the first African opera called “Bintou Wéré”, among which he would evolve for almost two years. Waziz diop, Michel Mavros, Oumy Sy, Germaine Acogny…. To cite only the latter will be of significant contribution in terms of experience and knowledge. This visit to the Sahel Opera House of the Prince Claus Association in Amsterdam is an important turning point in his career because he learned a lot there.
His atypical career allows him to discover unsuspected artistic talents.
It is in this context that he will prepare his third album entitled Ndèye Dior named after his late mother. This album called consecration will be released in 2008. The artist expresses himself there without any restraint on his feelings, his messages and approaches musical styles quite different from those that we knew him until now.
Because beyond Hip Hop which allowed the Senegalese public to discover it, Carlou D comes to propose a new style which he names Muzikr; alliance between music and Zikr in acoustic sounds.
