Black AD, whose real name is Hawa Diallo, is a rising Malian singer born in 2003.
Black AD is known for her unique style, mixing traditional Malian influences with more contemporary Afropop and Afrobeats. Her lyrics are often about life, youth, social cohesion, living together and a lot of love.
In 2021, she released her first EP “Idjidja: Volume 1” which was a great success with the public. She sings about the beauty of her country Mali, calling for respect of traditions and national unity.
In November 2022, she won the RFI discovery prize with the song “Mali” from her first EP. The video was a big hit in Mali and in the Malian diaspora, which allowed Black AD to become known on the local music scene. She released her second EP “Idjidja: Volume 2” the same year.
Black AD also takes advantage of her songs to promote local products, especially Malian cotton, through her particular style of clothing that combines modernity and tradition.
Black AD is considered as one of the artists we can count on to value our African culture.
