Stanley Enow
Stanley Enow, real name Stanley Ebai Enow, is a Cameroonian rap, hip-hop and afrobeat artist. He was born on February 8, 1985 in Bamenda, in the North-West region of Cameroon. He belongs to the Bayangi ethnic group, originally from the South-West region, earning him the nickname Bayangi Boy. He grew up in Bafoussam, in the West region, where he attended primary and secondary school at Government Bilingual High School. In 2007, he moved to Douala, in the Littoral region, where he obtained a degree in economic journalism from the University of Douala.
Stanley Enow began writing rap lyrics and breakdancing in high school. He made a name for himself on night-time shows such as Groove and Cocktail Hit Parade, as well as on private radio stations where he worked as a presenter and producer. He also hosts the TV music show Mboa and lends his voice to commercials for the telecommunications company MTN.
In June 2013, he released his first single Hein Père, which propelled him to the forefront of the African music scene. The song’s video wins Best Video of the Year at the 2013 Balafon Music Awards and hits #1 on ReverbNation and Trace Africa. The song’s remix features the participation of South African artist F.A.B. In April 2014, he releases his second single TumbuBoss (Toumbou Boss Deluxe), heralding the release of his debut album Soldier Like My Papa.
Stanley Enow is the first Cameroonian to be nominated and win an MTV Africa Music Awards, in the Best New Act category in 2014. He also wins Best New Artist and is nominated for Best Central African Man at the 2014 African Muzik Magazine Awards. He collaborates with international artists such as Nyanda, Sarkodie and Davido. In 2018, he plays the role of Dagobert in the web series Pakgne with Marcelle Kuetche and Muriel Blanche.
Stanley Enow is a committed artist who supports social causes such as the fight against malaria or the education of young people. He is also an entrepreneur who co-directs the Motherland Empire label and has launched his own clothing brand, Stanley Enow Official Merch.
