Mamani Assitan Keita, also known as Mamani Keita, is a Malian singer born in Bamako on 20 October 1965.
Winner of the prize for the best soloist of the town of Bamako at the Biennale Artistique of 1982, she joined the District Orchestra of Bamako and then the National Badema. Spotted by the famous Malian singer Salif Keita, he hired her as a chorister and took her to France in 1987 to accompany him on his concerts. This was followed by several collaborations with various musicians: Hank Jones, Mathieu Chedid, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Manu Dibango, Salif Keita etc.
From his meeting with the rock musician Marc Minelli is born Electro Bamako (2002, Universal Jazz), album mixing jazz, electro and mandingo.
In 2006, Mamani Keïta released her second album, Yelema, composed with the arranger Nicolas Repac. This album is her first on the label No Format!
A few years later, she repeated her collaboration with Nicolas Repac and released a new album, Gagner l’Argent Français (2011, No Format!).
Mamani Keita knew how to place the golden grain of her voice to subtly combine these different influences of trans acoustic.
