Toofan
Duo of Togolese music composed of Masta Just (real name Kossivi Fatowou) and Barabas (Blaise Mensah), the Toofan group was founded in 2005. Their musical style, which they call “the Ogbragada”, is a combination of Rap and urban music.
Toofan is a musical group whose instrumental shows a new concept in West African music: the “cool-catché”. The dance itself looks simple, but it is a mixture of neck movements accompanied by a presentation of the feet opposed to the logic imposed by the neck movements.
The group is also known for a new concept, the “gweta”, which appeared in 2013 and whose body language aims to “dodge the jealous”.
The group is made up of Masta Just and Barabas. He composed the anthem for the 2012 and 2015 African Cups of Nations.
The group Toofan was awarded as best African pop artist and best African group at the All Africa Music Awards in 2017, then as best African group and best French-speaking artist at the All Africa Music Awards 2018.
The group signed with Universal Music France in 2017.
