Real name ANASSIN BORIS MEDARD, ABOMÉ L’ELEFANT is an Ivorian rap and afrobeat artist-singer, born on June 22 in marcory residing in the commune of koumassi. His career began with the group FIESTA_PARADE , as vocal leader from 2010 to 2017, after the group disbanded he continued his career under the label “C’PROP” for a year before officially signing to YÔRÔGANG PRODUCTION following a freestyle validated by DJ ARAFAT. He thus began his musical career in 2016, joining the Yôrô Gang production house, founded by the famous DJ Arafat. He collaborated with him on several tracks, including “Tous des tratres” and “Game 2 Dohi”. He also worked with other Ivorian artists, such as Molare, Ali Le Code and Seline.
In 2020, he left the Yôrô Gang to go solo. He then released his first album entitled “Apero”, featuring eight tracks, including “Douahoudé”, “Sarah va danser” and “Eh Dieu”. This album brought him to the attention of the general public and won him the trophy for best Afro Rap/Rap-Ivoir revelation at the PRIMUD (Prix international des musiques urbaines et du coupé-décalé) in 2020. He was also crowned best male rapper at the “Hip-Hop Ivoire Trophy” in 2021.
In 2021, he released his second album entitled “Were Were”, which means “blessed children” in the Baule language. The album contains nine tracks, including “Were”, “Kpakpato” and “Y’a lait”. He also took part in several concerts and festivals, notably in Guinea, where he was invited by Guinean rapper Takana Zion.
ABOMÉ L’ELEFANT defines himself as a committed artist, who denounces social and political injustice in his songs. He also pays tribute to his culture and origins, using expressions and proverbs that are typically Ivorian. He stands out for his varied musical style, which blends rap, coupé-décalé, zouglou and afrobeat. He calls himself “the elephant of Ivorian rap”, in reference to the national symbol of Côte d’Ivoire.
