Emmanuel Gui, better known under the pseudonym Suspect 95, is an Ivorian rapper born on February 13, 1995 in Yamoussoukro, the political capital of Côte d’Ivoire. He grew up in the district of Kossodo in Abidjan, where he was rocked by the sounds of coupe-decale, a musical genre very popular in Côte d’Ivoire, but also by American and French hip-hop music.
As a teenager, Suspect 95 began writing his first lyrics and performing on stage at small local concerts. But it was in 2017 that he really became known to the general public in Côte d’Ivoire with the track “Bâtiment bas”, which deals with the precarious living conditions encountered in the working class neighborhoods of Abidjan. This song was a huge success with both young and old, and even became an anthem for Ivorian youth.
With this success, Suspect 95 followed up with other hits such as “Faut changer de chemin”, “Sac à dos”, “Contrat” or “Dans le noir”. His songs deal with various subjects such as economic difficulties, love relationships, African identity and politics.
Suspect 95 is now considered one of the most talented Ivorian rappers of his generation. He is appreciated for his incisive flow and his ability to denounce the injustices and social problems of Ivorian society, while maintaining a certain lightness and sense of humor.
Despite his young age, Suspect 95 has already collaborated with many renowned artists such as Kiff no beat, Zaga Bambo or Niska. He is currently preparing the release of his first album, which should be released in the coming months.
Suspect 95 is also very active on social networks, where he regularly interacts with his fans and shares photos of his daily life. He is followed by thousands of people on Instagram and Twitter, where he shares his musical favorites.
