Makaya
Born October 05, 1995 in Yaounde, Makaya of his civil name Akamba Etoa Cyrille, a native of southern Cameroon, comes from the union between Etoa Bok and Marie Thérèse Nga Nsimi. After his primary studies at the Kodengui Public School, he began his secondary studies at the Franz Fanon College in 2012 in the city of Yaoundé.
Very early, Makaya is passionate about music! He also has a remarkable gift: it’s dance. Self-taught, he learns on his own the synchronized and jerky movements and contortions of urban music and local genres. Driven by his dream of stars, he perfected remarkably. Very soon, he is appreciated by the public and coveted by Coco Argentée and Zonga Gaimona as a dancer. At their side, he is fascinated by the beauty of singing, the art of writing and harmonies. His passion grew and pushed him to create in 2013, a band he called “Try-Dimas” whose collaboration resulted in a single: “la Makaya”; a title that will strongly mark his identity in the Cameroonian artistic world thanks to his ingenuity to merge harmoniously Hip Hop and Bikut-si. “The Makaya” which is also his own dance style, is the opus that gives him his artist name.
In 2016, he left the group try-Dimas to embark on a solo career. To this end, he will sign with the label Tiger Prod of the artist Dynasty the tiger who passes the relay to the label Eurostar Prod, which signs the title “yamo” in 2017 whose videogram will be financed by MC Prod and published by the two other production houses.
In 2018, he is asked by the label MC Prod which, unlike the other labels, supports the artist and produces a maxi single composed of titles “what is it for? And “a mother’s love” with her video clip.
