Moonchild was born to an extroverted woman of song who’s independence was before her time. At the age of 6 months Moon found love in front of the camera.
Young Moon burst onto the entertainment scene as a child model and hasn’t left the scene since.
She began performing at talent shows as soon as her legs could carry her and the result of her early start is an exceptional ability to improvise.
Following her mothers sudden death, when she was only a teenager. Moonchild left her home town in the Eastern Cape to study fashion in Durban.
Describing her sound as ‘futuristic-ghetto-funk’, MoonChild Sanelly is unlike any other musical act that you have ever experienced.
MoonChild Sanelly quickly made a name for herself in the Durban music scene, performing at festivals across KwaZulu-Natal and receiving high acclaim for her fashion design.
She has since relocated to Johannesburg where her presence has been no less noticeable, receiving noticeable acclaim for her hit single, Rabubi, from her debut SAMA Award Nominated album Rabulapha. The USA has also taken a keen liking to MoonChild Sanelly following a successful 2015, which wrapped with Moonchild leaving a lasting impression on New York City as well as after her major tour to perform at SXSW festival 2016 (Houston, Texas) Primavera (Barcelona, Spain) & Midem (Cannes, France).
