Coco Argentée, whose real name is Corine Céline Ntyame, born on 13 August 1982 in Mbandjock in the Center region of Cameroon, is a Cameroonian singer-songwriter residing in Belgium.
She began her career in 2010 and immediately became known through the title Dans la tanière, from her first album “Nostalgie”. Coco Argentée counts today two albums of which the second titled Trésor appears in April 2014.
In February 2016, she released le Crayon de Dieu, a maxi single of two titles. With this single, the artist who had been calling himself since the beginning of his career la go des ways, now use the nickname La Go Galaxy.
Corine Céline Ntyame was born on 13 August 1982 in Cameroon in the Center region. Her mother died while still very young and grew up with her father, sisters and stepmother.
Coco Argentée begins music very young. At the age of six, she joined the Protestant choir La voix des Anges in Ngoumou. A few years later, when she was in class six, she and two friends formed the group Les Feeling Girls with whom she made the first part of the concert of the artist Manu Dibango at the Mvogt College. She left the group when her father, Thomas Mekoulou Ndengue, a railway worker, was posted in the town of Ngaoundéré in the Adamaoua region. Once in the town of Ngaoundere, she begins to sing in the cabarets without the knowledge of her parents. At the age of 19 she won two prizes: the Commonwealth Prize and the Unesco Prize.
In 2003, Coco Argentée left Cameroon for Chad in order to pass her baccalauréat. After obtaining her Baccalaureat A4 in 2004, she settled in Ndjamena and continued her tests in cabarets until 2006 when she left the country to move to Belgium where she currently lives with her husband, A Belgian, and their two children. After a training as a nurse, Coco Argentée worked for several years as a nursing assistant, but decided after the release of her first album to stop her activity in the field of health to dedicate herself to her musical career.
Coco Argentée began her solo career in 2010 with the release of her first album Nostalgie, made up of eight tracks. There are also Bikutsi and Zouk. The most popular tracks of this album are Dans la tanière, a huge success with which she is discovered, Kamer, and also N’Djamena, homage to the city of Ndjamena where she started her song career. She won numerous awards with this album, including the 2012 Musical Revelation of the Year at Canal 2’Or and Best Bikutsi of the year 2013 at Festi-Bikutsi.
Two years after the release of Nostalgie, Coco Argentée returns to the music market in April 2014 with a second album of 10 titles titled Trésor. The album was a hit with Fallait pas, Made in Cameroon and Coco Carbure. She works on this album with Talla André-Marie, icon of the music of Cameroon, on the title Bikutskin.
